On May 9 th Gov. Brad Henry authorized a performance audit
of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB). 

State Auditor Jeff McMahan requested the audit after attending the January, 2006 meeting of SOW.  While SOW did not officially request the audit, we are supportive of the audit.  Because of the number of inquires made to our organization about the audit, we have decided to post a copy of the letter State Auditor Jeff McMahan wrote to Governor Brad Henry requesting the audit.

Save Our Water was originally organized in reaction to the permit OWRB granted to the Rural Development Foundation (RDF) which would have allowed them to draw out a maximum of 72, 000,000 gallons of water daily.  OWRB turned down RDF's request for an extension on the permit on November 7, 2005.

Save Our Water continues to work to preserve and protect Lake Eufaula and all of Oklahoma 's water resources
